Heritage and Artistry
Nicole Kirby, a skilled leather artisan, originates from the picturesque landscapes of southern Saskatchewan, Canada. In her twenties, Nicole had the chance to learn the basics of saddle making from a local woodcarver and saddle maker. However, the responsibilities of managing a busy ranch and caring for her young family took precedence, temporarily pausing her leather work pursuits.
In recent years, Nicole has reignited her passion for the arts and leather craftsmanship by attending classes across Canada and the US. Her deep admiration for the history of the Old West is evident in her creations, showcasing the influence of Western lifestyle and culture.
Nicole blends traditional leatherworking techniques with innovative methods rarely seen in the industry. Through dyeing, antiquing, and resist techniques, she achieves intricate details, depth, and perspective in her work. Nicole's ultimate objective is to honor the Western culture of our ancestors and imbue her creations with that enduring spirit.
